Strong performance for G50's in European GT (27-7-09)

Four Ginetta G50's were on the grid at this weekend's GT 4 European cup at Spa-Francorchamps. Drivers Hunter Abbot and Henry Fletcher, narrowly missed a podium when they lost out to a Nissan in round 4.

Henry, in the nr6 Ginetta G50 said: "I'm very upset to not get third. When Hunter handed the car over, he'd done an amazing job, got the car in third, but when I got out of the pits, we'd lost to the Nissan, I saw them just go past as I exited the pits. I tried to go after them, but I couldn't quite catch up and then the BMW caught up very quickly, he came flying past on the straight.

Then I just tried absolutely everything to overtake him again and threw everything into the last lap and he was quite erratic. I was an inch off him at the apex of just about every single corner and there's nothing more you can do in a Ginetta here.

Strong Performance for G50's

You can be flat on the power on the apex, an inch off his bumper and by the exit he's two car lengths down the next straight. Too far away to get him under braking, unless I just ran into him, which did cross my mind, but I thought I'd keep it clean, but still I got fourth. I did try and get around him at the Bus-stop, which doesn't work, but would have been fun if it did. It was a good race and I'm pleased with the way I raced. It's good to be car-to-car, and no contact. So, best bronze is good, but it wasn't the third place we wanted. But it's all points, so it's been good for us."

Joe Osbourne and Tom Dunstan were placed at 7th in the GT4 race in the number 5 Ginetta G50.

Meanwhile Menno Kuus and Quint Engul managed 14th in the Dutch GT which set off 45 seconds ahead of the European GT competitors, were closely followed by Nicky Catsburg and Mathjis Bakker who were placed 15th in class with an average speed of 149.14 mph.
